Match the Cable to Your Equipment

Use between compatible SDI outputs and inputs on equipment such as cameras, switchers, recorders, converters, and monitors. Confirm that both devices support your intended SDI format, resolution, frame rate, and signal routing. A cable does not convert an unsupported video format or upgrade a device's SDI capabilities.

BNC describes the connector, not the signal format. Do not assume compatibility with RF antenna, network, word-clock, or other BNC-equipped connections solely because the connectors fit. This is a 75-ohm video cable, not a 50-ohm RF cable.

Measure the complete routing path, including equipment spacing, bends, and service slack. Keep the run no longer than necessary while allowing access without placing strain on the connectors. Check clearance around closely spaced or recessed BNC jacks.

The usable distance depends on the SDI data rate, cable loss, connected equipment, and the complete signal path. Do not assume that a length suitable for a lower SDI rate will also work at 12G-SDI. Couplers, patch panels, and additional cable sections can affect the available signal margin. Confirm your required length and format with our custom cable specialists before ordering, especially for longer runs.

Custom Labels and Installation

Label each end by camera, source, destination, or patch point to make setup and troubleshooting easier. Support the cable so equipment sockets do not carry its weight, avoid tight bends, kinks, and pinching, and disconnect by releasing the BNC coupling rather than pulling on the cable. Test the complete path at your intended video format before putting it into service.
