Build custom speaker cables with Canare 4S11

Canare 4S11 Grey is a four-conductor star-quad speaker cable for custom amplifier-to-passive-speaker connections. Four individually insulated 14 AWG conductors sit inside a flexible PVC jacket. In the conventional two-conductor star-quad configuration, two conductors are combined for each polarity, providing approximately 11 AWG equivalent per paired leg.

This listing is the standard 4S11 in Grey, not the oxygen-free copper 4S11G version.

Ordering by the foot

Sold by the foot and shipped in a continuous length. Enter the total feet needed: quantity 25 means one 25-foot piece. This is unterminated bulk cable; connectors are not included. Allow extra length for routing, termination, and service loops.

Choose your color or conductor version

  • 4S11 Grey (this listing): Standard 4S11 with a Grey jacket.
  • 4S11 Black: The standard 4S11 cable in a Black jacket.
  • 4S11G Grey OFC: The Grey-jacket version with oxygen-free copper conductors, a different model rather than just another color.

Understand the star-quad wiring

When appropriately wired, the star-quad arrangement helps reduce magnetic-field radiation from speaker lines into nearby low-level microphone and signal cables. It is not a shield, and it does not eliminate the need for sensible cable routing.

For conventional paired wiring, combine the two Red conductors for one polarity and the two White conductors for the other, maintaining the same polarity at both ends. The approximately 11 AWG rating refers to each combined pair, not each individual wire. Follow the amplifier, speaker, and connector manufacturers' wiring instructions for your particular system.

Check your application and connector fit

The 10.7 mm outside diameter and paired conductor size are important connector checks. Confirm that the cable entry, strain relief, and terminals accept the jacket and your chosen conductor arrangement. Secure the outer jacket, keep loose strands clear of adjacent terminals, and test continuity and shorts before connecting equipment.

Choose cable length and wiring for the amplifier output, speaker impedance, and acceptable cable loss. Four conductors do not automatically make a cable suitable for every bi-wire, bi-amp, or bridged-amplifier arrangement. This is speaker cable, not a substitute for shielded microphone or instrument cable.
