The Rolls PM351 Personal Monitor Station combines a line-level monitor feed, a microphone, and an instrument into a local headphone mix. Separate level controls let you bring up your own performance without asking for every adjustment at the mixing console, making it useful for rehearsals, stage monitoring, worship services, and studio sessions.

Three sources, your own balance

Connect a suitable monitor feed to the 1/4-inch TRS stereo/mono line input, your microphone to the XLR mic input, and a compatible instrument source to the 1/4-inch TRS stereo/mono instrument input. Adjust each source's level in your headphones while retaining the connections needed to send your microphone and instrument onward.

Configure mono or stereo operation according to the manufacturer's instructions. A TRS stereo connection is not the same wiring arrangement as a balanced mono connection, so match cables and source outputs to the selected mode.

Send the microphone and instrument to the main system

A hardwired XLR microphone pass-through connects the microphone signal to an external mixer or preamp. Two transformer-balanced, isolated XLR instrument outputs provide the instrument connections to the main system. These are source-routing outputs, not outputs of your complete headphone mix.

The local input level controls set your monitoring balance rather than serving as the front-of-house mix controls. If your microphone needs phantom power, confirm the required supply and pass-through configuration with the connected equipment; do not assume the PM351 generates it.

Headphone connections in two sizes

Both 1/4-inch and 3.5 mm headphone jacks are provided for connecting suitable headphones. The two connector sizes do not provide independently adjustable monitor mixes. Start with low levels and raise them gradually to a comfortable listening level.

Ground-lift options for troubleshooting

Jumper-configured ground lifts are provided for the microphone pass-through and instrument outputs. They can help address certain ground-loop problems, but cannot eliminate every source of hum or noise. Follow the manufacturer's configuration instructions and never disconnect a piece of equipment's protective AC safety earth.
