Rolls ILC119 Stereo In-Line Level Control

The Rolls ILC119 Stereo In-Line Level Control adds a rotary volume adjustment between a compatible audio source and its destination. Use it to keep level control close at hand in a desktop listening setup, studio, or AV system without reaching behind equipment or relying on an on-screen slider.

Passive attenuation without a power supply

The ILC119 reduces the level of the incoming stereo signal without batteries or external power. It does not add gain, act as a headphone amplifier, or make a low-output source louder. Choose a source that can already drive the connected line input or headphones appropriately.

Stereo connections in two familiar sizes

1/4-inch TRS and 3.5 mm TRS input/output connections accommodate compatible stereo line-level and headphone-level signals. These TRS connections carry left and right audio, not balanced mono. Match the cable wiring to the equipment at both ends; a plug that fits does not establish electrical compatibility.

Fit it into the right signal path

Connect the control between the source and receiving equipment using the appropriate input and output connections. Begin with the source and playback levels reduced, then bring them up gradually. With passive attenuation, source impedance, destination impedance, and cable length can affect performance, so use suitable cables and check the complete setup.

The ILC119 is not a speaker-level volume control and should not be placed between a power amplifier and passive speakers. It is also not a calibrated hearing-protection limiter; keep headphone listening levels moderate.
