The Neutrik NC3MD-LX-B is a male 3-pin XLR chassis connector in the DLX series, with a black-chromium-plated metal housing and gold-plated contacts. Its D-style mounting flange and rear solder cups suit custom panels, stage boxes, and compatible equipment repairs where a fixed XLR connection is needed.

Sold individually. This is a solder-termination panel connector, not a cable-end connector or a prewired feedthrough. Black/Gold describes the housing/contact finish, not the finish of the entire connector.

Choose the finish and connector gender

Male versions mate with compatible female 3-pin XLR cable connectors. Female versions mate with compatible male 3-pin XLR cable connectors. Choose gender for the mating cable and circuit design; gender alone does not establish signal direction or wiring compatibility.

Check panel fit before ordering

The D-style housing supports front or rear mounting. Check Neutrik's dimensional drawing against the panel cutout, mounting holes, panel thickness, rear soldering clearance, and available cable space before replacing an existing connector. A D-style flange does not guarantee every installation will fit without modification.

Soldering and grounding

Follow the equipment's schematic and the connector's numbered terminals. Confirm the mating-face versus solder-side view before wiring; do not rely on the apparent left-to-right position of the contacts. The listed maximum conductor size is 2.5 mm² / 14 AWG; it is a terminal limit, not a required wire gauge.

Use appropriate soldering technique and provide internal cable support so wiring does not pull on the solder joints. Control heat and solder flow, and keep the mating pins free of solder and contamination.

An optional connection permits pin 1 to be joined to chassis ground. Make that connection only as required by the equipment's grounding design; do not automatically bridge signal contacts or change an existing grounding scheme. Disconnect equipment power before installation, then check continuity and shorts before use.
