Description

Custom 8-Channel XLR to XLR Audio Snake with Mogami W2932

Bring eight balanced audio connections together in one custom-built snake. Made with Mogami W2932 audio snake cable and professional XLR connectors, this assembly helps keep multichannel connections organized between compatible studio or live-sound equipment without running eight separate main cables along the same route.

Built for Your Setup

  • Mogami W2932 8-channel audio snake cable.
  • Individual XLR connections at both ends of all eight channels.
  • Professional connector options available through this listing.
  • Eight independent audio paths, suitable for eight balanced mono connections or four stereo pairs with compatible equipment.
  • Color coding by channel, with custom labels and finishing options available.
  • Custom built to order by Performance Audio as a finished assembly, not unterminated bulk cable.
  • Lifetime warranty.

Eight Channels in One Organized Cable Run

Connect compatible equipment with individual XLR inputs and outputs while keeping each signal on its own path. A balanced mono connection uses one channel. Stereo normally needs two channels, one for left and one for right, allowing up to four stereo pairs when configured appropriately. This snake does not mix channels, split signals, sum stereo to mono, or combine outputs.

This is the XLR-to-XLR format, not a per-channel mixed-connector or per-side preset listing. Review the available connector genders and build options for both ends. If you need different formats, special wiring, or a mixed connector arrangement, contact our custom cable specialists before ordering.

Match XLR Gender, Signal Level, and Wiring

Check the required connector gender at each equipment port and map each source to its intended destination. Do not assume that every XLR socket carries the same type of signal. Confirm each device's wiring and whether it uses microphone-level or line-level analog audio.

A microphone still needs a suitable microphone preamplifier. This snake does not add gain, attenuate a line output for a microphone input, provide transformer isolation, or turn an unbalanced source into a balanced source. For line-level connections, confirm output level, input sensitivity, and available headroom. If either device uses nonstandard or unbalanced XLR wiring, confirm the appropriate build before ordering.

Phantom Power and Specialized Applications

For phantom-powered microphones, confirm that the complete channel wiring, microphone, and connected equipment support the required phantom-power arrangement. The cable does not generate phantom power. Disable phantom power before repatching and keep it away from incompatible line-level or unbalanced devices.

This listing is for analog audio, not speaker power or a guaranteed AES/EBU digital or DMX assembly. XLR connectors are used for several incompatible applications; connector fit alone does not establish suitability. Discuss digital, lighting-control, power, or other specialized requirements before ordering.

Plan Main Length and Breakout Reach

Measure the complete cable route with room for service slack, gentle bends, and equipment access. At each end, measure from the breakout point to the farthest socket so every channel reaches without tension. Confirm special breakout lengths or staggered reaches before the build is finalized.

Check clearance around recessed or closely spaced XLR ports, including space to operate connector latches where fitted. Suitable run length depends on the source, destination, signal level, wiring, and installation environment, not simply whether the connectors fit.

Custom Labels and Channel Color Coding

Make connections easier to identify when patching, changing equipment, or tracing a signal path. Custom labels can identify channels, connected equipment, or destinations, while color coding by channel provides a quick visual reference for distinguishing the eight audio paths.

Map channels 1 through 8 before ordering and keep identification consistent at both ends. Include left/right assignments for stereo pairs and clear source/destination labels where channels carry signals in different directions. Contact our custom cable specialists to discuss labeling and finishing options for your build.

Handling and Testing

Support the main cable and breakouts so equipment sockets do not carry the snake's weight. Avoid sharp bends, crushing, and tension where individual channels leave the main jacket. Release connector latches where fitted and disconnect by the connector body rather than pulling on the cable.

Test all eight paths with the intended equipment before installation or a show. Check channel mapping, correct levels, stereo left/right assignments, and clean audio without hum, noise, clipping, or intermittent connections. Test phantom-powered microphone paths only after confirming that the complete connection is suitable. Never join two active outputs together.
