Description

Custom 8-Channel XLR to 1/4-Inch TRS Audio Snake with Mogami W2932

Connect eight compatible balanced audio paths between XLR and 1/4-inch TRS equipment with one organized assembly. Performance Audio builds this snake using Mogami W2932 cable and professional connector options for studio, rack, and live-sound setups where separate connections would otherwise require eight individual main cables.

Built for Your Setup

  • Mogami W2932 8-channel audio snake cable.
  • XLR connections at one end and 1/4-inch TRS connections at the other.
  • Professional connector options available through this listing.
  • Eight independent audio paths, suitable for eight balanced mono connections or four stereo pairs with compatible equipment.
  • Custom labeling and finishing options.
  • Custom made to order as a finished assembly, not unterminated bulk cable.
  • Lifetime warranty.

Eight Separate Balanced Mono Paths

Each channel carries one balanced mono analog signal when connected to compatible balanced equipment. Stereo normally uses two channels, one for left and one for right, allowing up to four stereo pairs. This snake does not mix channels, split signals, sum stereo to mono, or combine outputs.

This is the XLR-to-TRS format, not a per-channel mixed-connector or per-side preset listing. Review the available XLR genders and build options against your equipment. The connector names identify the ends, not an electronic conversion direction; connect an appropriate output to an appropriate input on each path.

Confirm XLR Gender, Port Function, and Level

Check the required XLR gender at every equipment port rather than relying on the connector format alone. Confirm each device's wiring and whether the connection carries microphone-level or line-level audio. Changing XLR to TRS does not turn a microphone signal into line level or attenuate a line output for a microphone input.

A microphone needs a suitable microphone preamplifier. Many equipment TRS inputs are line inputs, and plugging a microphone into one through this snake does not supply the missing gain or necessarily provide phantom power. For line-level connections, confirm output level, input sensitivity, and headroom.

A 1/4-inch TRS socket may carry balanced mono audio, stereo headphones, or an insert send and return. Matching plug shapes do not establish compatibility. This assembly does not break stereo headphones into separate left/right connections or provide a complete insert Y connection. Confirm any nonstandard use with our custom cable specialists before ordering.

The cable does not provide transformer isolation, balancing of an unbalanced source, active level conversion, or impedance matching through active circuitry. If either device is unbalanced, confirm the manufacturer's recommended wiring and whether the selected build is appropriate.

Phantom Power and Specialized Applications

Where phantom power is required, confirm that the complete wiring, equipment ports, and connected devices support it. Do not assume a TRS port supplies or safely accepts phantom power. Disable phantom power before repatching and avoid inserting or removing TRS plugs while phantom power is active. Keep phantom power away from incompatible line-level or unbalanced equipment.

This listing is for analog audio, not speaker power or a guaranteed AES/EBU digital or DMX assembly. An XLR connector alone does not establish digital, lighting-control, or power compatibility. Discuss those requirements before ordering.

Plan Main Length and Breakout Reach

Measure the complete cable route with room for service slack, gentle bends, and equipment access. At both ends, measure from the breakout point to the farthest socket so every channel reaches without tension. Confirm special breakout lengths or staggered reaches before the build is finalized.

Check clearance around recessed or closely spaced ports, including room to grip TRS connector bodies and operate XLR latches where fitted. Suitable run length depends on the source, destination, signal level, balanced or unbalanced operation, and installation environment.

Channel Labels and Finishing

Map channels 1 through 8 to their source and destination ports before ordering. Label both ends consistently with channel numbers, equipment names, or left/right assignments for stereo pairs. If paths carry signals in different directions, identify their sources and destinations clearly. Discuss color coding by channel and available finishing options to simplify patching and troubleshooting.

Handling and Testing

Support the main cable and breakouts so equipment sockets do not carry the snake's weight. Avoid sharp bends, crushing, and tension where individual channels leave the main jacket. Release XLR latches where fitted and disconnect by the connector body rather than pulling on the cable.

Test all eight paths with the intended equipment before installation or a show. Check channel mapping, correct levels, stereo left/right assignments, and clean audio without hum, noise, clipping, or intermittent connections. Test phantom-powered microphone paths only after confirming that the complete connection is suitable. Never join two active outputs together.

Customization Help

If the available options do not cover your needs, call or email Performance Audio's custom cable specialists. Provide your equipment models, required XLR genders, port functions, signal levels, main cable length, breakout reach at each end, channel map, and labeling or finishing requests so we can confirm the build details. Confirm pricing and the build timeline before ordering if you have a deadline.
