Description

Custom Mogami W2931 4-Channel XLR-to-1/4" TS Audio Snake

Keep four unbalanced analog audio connections together in one organized cable run. Custom built to order by Performance Audio using Mogami W2931 audio snake cable and professional connectors, this assembly helps tidy connections between compatible XLR and 1/4" TS-equipped audio devices when the equipment supports the required unbalanced wiring.

Built for Your Connections

  • Cable: Mogami W2931 4-channel audio snake cable.
  • Connection format: Four separate XLR-to-1/4" TS paths for compatible unbalanced mono analog audio connections.
  • Connector selection: Choose from the professional connector options available for this build. Confirm the XLR gender required by your equipment and check connector clearance at both ends.
  • Custom build: Finished cable assembly made to order, not unterminated W2931 bulk cable.
  • Identification and finishing: Custom labeling and finishing options available. Ask about channel color coding for your build.
  • Warranty: Lifetime warranty.

Four Separate Unbalanced Audio Paths

Each XLR-to-TS channel carries one unbalanced mono signal between a compatible output and input. A stereo connection uses two snake channels, one for left and one for right; four channels can organize two stereo pairs or four independent mono connections.

The four paths remain separate. This snake does not mix, sum, or split signals. An XLR connector does not make these TS connections balanced, and changing connector formats does not convert signal levels or provide microphone preamplification, transformer isolation, or the functions of a DI box.

Check Balanced-Output Wiring Before Ordering

If connecting a balanced XLR output to an unbalanced TS input, check the source equipment manufacturer's instructions for unbalanced operation. Different output designs can require different treatment of the unused signal conductor; do not assume one XLR-to-TS wiring arrangement is suitable for every device. Provide equipment models and any required pinout to our custom cable specialists before the build.

When connecting an unbalanced TS output to an XLR input, confirm that the input accepts the source's signal level and the required unbalanced wiring. Check whether each XLR connection needs a male or female connector. An XLR microphone input and an XLR line input are not interchangeable simply because the plug fits.

Keep phantom power off on XLR inputs connected to unbalanced equipment unless the equipment manufacturer explicitly permits that connection. This cable is not a phantom-power blocker. Mute or power down the relevant signal path before patching.

The TS connections carry unbalanced mono audio, not balanced TRS audio, stereo headphones, or an insert send/return pair. Connector fit alone does not establish suitability for AES/EBU digital audio, DMX, or other control formats. This is an audio signal snake, not a speaker cable; never use it between a power amplifier's speaker outputs and passive speakers.

Plan Your Length and Breakout Reach

Measure the complete routing path with room for bends, service slack, and access behind equipment. Check how far apart the four connections are at both ends and allow enough breakout reach to connect them without strain, especially when patching across several devices.

Keep unbalanced runs as short as practical and route away from power supplies and AC cabling where possible to help reduce noise pickup. Check clearance around recessed or closely spaced sockets, including access to XLR release latches. Confirm any special breakout lengths, connector orientation, channel mapping, or wiring requirements with our custom cable specialists before the build.

Custom Labels and Channel Identification

Label channels by number, left and right, connected equipment, or destination to make setup and troubleshooting easier. Ask about channel color-coding options and provide your preferred label text and channel assignments when discussing the configuration. Keep a record of each channel's source and destination.

Installation and Handling

Support the main cable and breakouts so equipment sockets do not carry the cable's weight. Avoid tight bends, pinching, and tension at breakout points. Leave enough access for connection and removal, release XLR latches where fitted, and disconnect by the connector body rather than pulling on the cable. Check every channel's routing and operation before putting the system into service.

Customization Help

If the website's configuration options do not cover your needs, call or email Performance Audio's custom cable specialists. Provide your equipment models, signal levels, required XLR genders, cable length, breakout reach, connector-clearance needs, and any special mapping, labeling, finishing, or wiring requests so we can confirm the build details. Confirm pricing and the build timeline before ordering if you have a deadline.
