Description

Focus on the voice with a tight hypercardioid Novacore handheld.

The Audix NCHHTH combines an NCHH digital UHF handheld transmitter with an NCTH Tight Hypercardioid Wireless Capsule for vocals, performance, and speech. The directional capsule offers a focused pickup option for stage applications where microphone technique and monitor placement matter. This 494–542 MHz bundle includes the transmitter and capsule; a compatible Novacore receiver is required separately.

Choose focused pickup, then check the stage setup

The NCTH's tight hypercardioid pattern favors the voice in front of the capsule while reducing pickup from certain off-axis directions. Keep the microphone aimed toward the mouth and maintain a consistent working distance. A focused pattern requires deliberate positioning, especially when the performer turns or moves.

Hypercardioid microphones also pick up some sound from the rear, so do not assume a monitor directly behind the microphone is the best position. Check monitor placement and levels with the actual stage setup. The capsule does not guarantee freedom from feedback, and covering the grille can change its directional behavior.

Adjust the transmitter for the performer

Variable input gain, a low-cut filter, and an audio limiter help match the microphone signal to the rest of the system. Set levels with the performer speaking or singing at the expected volume, then check receiver and mixer levels. The limiter does not replace appropriate gain staging.

Select between 1 mW and 10 mW RF output as part of the wireless plan. Standard, Auto, and Bypass mute modes let you configure mute behavior for the application. The LCD provides operating information, with setup controls beneath the battery cover. Confirm the selected settings before handing the microphone to the performer.

Match the receiver and operating band

The NCHH uses AES-256 encrypted digital transmission and IR synchronization with a compatible Novacore receiver. Match transmitter and receiver operating bands, select suitable frequencies, and test reception throughout the intended performance area. IR sync simplifies pairing but does not replace frequency coordination or coverage checks.

Change capsules as your needs change

The standard S-thread mount allows the included NCTH to be exchanged for a compatible capsule, including the optional Audix NCEC Extended Cardioid. Confirm compatibility before choosing another capsule; the capsule determines the microphone's pickup pattern and other audio characteristics.

Plan battery power and charging

The transmitter operates on two AA alkaline batteries or one NCLB rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Listed runtime is 9+ hours; use actual operating conditions to plan battery changes rather than treating that figure as a guarantee.

The built-in USB-C port provides a charging connection for use with the appropriate rechargeable battery. Do not attempt to recharge alkaline AA batteries. A USB-A to USB-C cable is included; batteries and a USB power source are not listed in the packing list below.
