Put a Novacore handheld with an extended cardioid capsule in the performer's hands.

The Audix NCHHEC combines an NCHH digital UHF handheld transmitter with an NCEC Extended Cardioid Wireless Capsule for vocals, performance, and speech. It provides the microphone capsule and transmitter together, rather than requiring you to select a capsule separately. This 494–542 MHz bundle requires a compatible Novacore receiver, sold separately; it is not a complete wireless system on its own.

Use a directional capsule for vocals and speech

The included NCEC uses an extended cardioid pickup pattern and Audix VLM capsule technology. Aim the capsule toward the voice and maintain a consistent working distance for more consistent level and tone. During rehearsal or sound check, check the microphone with the intended loudspeakers and monitors; a directional pickup pattern does not eliminate feedback.

For a presenter moving around a stage or a singer working with a live band, the handheld format keeps microphone positioning under the user's control. Avoid covering the grille, and check the sound at the positions the performer will actually use.

Adjust the transmitter for the application

The NCHH provides variable input gain, a low-cut filter, and an audio limiter to help match the microphone signal to the rest of the system. Set levels with the performer at their expected volume, then check receiver and mixer levels. The limiter does not replace appropriate gain staging.

Select between 1 mW and 10 mW RF output as part of the installation's wireless plan. Standard, Auto, and Bypass mute modes let you configure mute behavior for the application. The LCD provides operating information, with setup controls beneath the battery cover. Confirm the settings before handing the microphone to the user.

Match the receiver and operating band

AES-256 encrypted digital transmission and IR synchronization support setup with a compatible Novacore receiver. Match transmitter and receiver operating bands, choose suitable frequencies, and test reception throughout the intended performance area. IR sync simplifies pairing but does not replace frequency coordination or guarantee coverage.

Change capsules as your needs change

The standard S-thread mount allows the included NCEC to be exchanged for a compatible capsule, including the optional Audix NCTH Tight Hypercardioid. Confirm compatibility before choosing another capsule; the capsule determines pickup pattern and other microphone characteristics.

Plan battery power and charging

The transmitter operates on two AA alkaline batteries or one NCLB rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Listed runtime is 9+ hours; use actual operating conditions to plan battery changes rather than treating that figure as a guarantee.

The built-in USB-C port provides a charging connection for use with the appropriate rechargeable battery. Do not attempt to recharge alkaline AA batteries. A USB-A to USB-C cable is included; batteries and a USB power source are not listed in the packing list below.
