Cryo Treated Gold Plated Audio Grade IEC Electrical AC Power Connector with Perma-Lock Terminals - Clear
The years of development have finally produced a superior cord-end IEC. Gone are the days of wimpy, soldered contacts. The Wattgate 350i is here! The construction of the 350i is durable, featuring an elegant polycarbonate rear housing available in either black or clear with a durable hi-temperature rated front housing. The 350i has been designed to be adaptable to a wide range of power cables the removable insert can accommodate cable diameters from 0.300" (7.62 mm) to 0.655" (16.63 mm).
Installation has been further simplified due to clearly marked, tightly-spaced, funnel shaped holes to guide the conductors into the unique Perma-Lock terminals. The Perma-Lock terminals work in the following way: As the terminal screw tightens down on the contact tang, it compresses the wire underneath the tang, causing the screw to exert an upwards lift of the collar overleaf. This lifting action "locks up" the threads screws. Stress relieving of the terminals is virtually eliminated. Heat cycling and vibration cannot loosen the screw.
The real departure the 350i takes from the traditional IEC lies with the contact elements themselves. Their contacts are large and designed to posses a high spring rate to securely grip the connector on the component. In addition, a three-layer plating process is added: Oxygen free copper plating, electroless nickel, and finally 24k gold plating dramatically improves conductivity and prevents corrosion. Plugs are cryogenically treated, rated at 125 VAC, 15A, and accept up to 10 gauge wire.

After ten years of researching cryogenic technology, we now cryogenically treat our Wattgate line of products in house. Years of testing different methods and processes within the cryogenic field have led us to develop our own optimized approach.
Our method of Deep Cryogenic Treatment(DCT) is of the indirect or dry type. A specially optimized cycling method is employed to achieve maximum benefit for our products. With the indirect or dry process the parts are never subject to direct contact with liquid nitrogen, avoiding thermal shock to the materials. The process takes between four and five days to complete. We have truly enjoyed the sonic results of this process, we think you will too.
