Description

End-address Large-diaphragm Condenser Microphone with Highpass and Lowpass Filters

With its end-address form, premium internals, and onboard sound shaping options, the Lauten Audio LS-208 is a large-diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone that offers studio-class tone in place of a dynamic mic, whether used on vocals or instruments, in the studio or on the stage. The high-pass filter (50 or 120 Hz) lets you control bass buildup, while the low-pass filter (8 or 10 kHz) is ideal for softening overly bright or harsh sounds. Since the LS-208 is capable of capturing SPLs up to 135 dB cleanly and without clipping, you can confidently put it in front of a guitar cab or up-close on a snare.

To keep undesired noise to a minimum, the 1.3" condenser capsule is internally shockmounted, and the external shockmount further isolates the mic from stand-borne vibrations and rumble. The cardioid polar pattern reduces stage bleed and room noise by rejecting off-axis sound behind the mic. Furthermore, a foam windscreen is included to lessen noise from breaths, vocal plosives, and gusts of air from speakers. The supplied flight case makes the LS-208 a great companion for the road. Like other solid-state condensers, this mic requires 48V phantom power.

End-Address Condenser

This high-fidelity replacement for classic front-address dynamic microphones is equipped with two dedicated filters for immediate sound-shaping at the source. Record vocals and percussion with impact and clarity, or flip a switch to capture electric guitars with warmth and unprecedented realism. In addition to its timbral flexibility, the LS-208 has the ability to withstand a staggering 135 dB of SPL without internal padding, making it a powerful choice for extremely loud and dynamic sound sources.

Excellent Isolation

Thanks to its cardioid polar pattern, the LS-208 rejects off-axis sounds including bandmates, pets, air conditioning, and room echo. You can now capture studio-quality sound in poorly treated rooms with the depth and clarity of a large-diaphragm condenser microphone.

Studio Quality Anywhere

Because of it's off-axis noise rejection and lifelike sound at close proximity, the LS-208 is a powerful drop-in replacement for traditional front-address dynamic microphones. Capture vocals with intimate clarity, drums with explosive impact, and guitar amplifiers with depth and realism.

Analog Sound Shaping

Two dedicated filters allow for immediate sound-shaping right at the source, removing the need to change out microphones in order to get the sound you want. Record a tight and bright snare drum or a dark and sultry vocal at the flip of a switch.

Premium Components

The LS-208 signal path is finalized with high-resolution, low-distortion polypropylene capacitors and resistors, a USA-made FET, and a custom-wound output transformer. The result is a natural and true-to-life sound with exceptional isolation and transient response.

Accessories

Furthering its versatility are the accessories that come with the LS-208—a spider-type shockmount that isolates the mic from vibration, a space-saving hard mount, a foam windscreen for plosive and wind-noise rejection, and a flight case.
