One Cable, One Balanced Audio Channel

Use this cable between compatible balanced outputs and inputs on equipment such as mixers, audio interfaces, signal processors, and powered monitors. Choose the XLR gender and connector configuration required by your equipment. The cable can carry a signal in either direction when its connector configuration and wiring match the source and destination.

In this application, the TRS connector carries one balanced mono channel, not separate left and right stereo channels. This is not a stereo headphone cable, insert breakout, or stereo-to-mono summing cable. A TRS socket can serve different functions, so check its intended use rather than relying on connector fit alone.

Match signal levels as well as connectors. This passive cable does not amplify a microphone, convert mic level to line level, balance an unbalanced output, or provide electrical isolation. A microphone connected to a TRS input still requires an input designed for that microphone's signal and power requirements. This is an analog audio cable, not an AES/EBU digital cable or an amplifier-to-passive-speaker cable.

Check Wiring and Power Requirements

Confirm the equipment's pinout and any nonstandard wiring requirements before ordering. Balanced operation depends on the connected equipment and correct wiring throughout the signal path; changing connector types alone does not create a balanced connection.

Do not assume an XLR-to-TRS connection provides phantom power. Follow the equipment manufacturer's instructions and disable phantom power where it is not required or supported. Mute or turn down monitoring before making or removing connections, and avoid plugging or unplugging a TRS connection while phantom power is present.

Plan the Run Before You Order

Measure along the actual cable route, allowing slack for strain relief and equipment access without unnecessary excess. Check connector gender, clearance around adjacent sockets, and space for connector bodies and cable exits. Support the cable so it does not pull on equipment sockets, and avoid sharp bends and pinch points.

Route away from AC cables and power transformers where practical. After installation, verify the intended input and output settings and test the connection at a low listening level before normal use.
