Description

Custom Mogami W2534 XLR-to-RCA Unbalanced Audio Cable

Connect compatible audio equipment with a cable built to fit your setup. Performance Audio custom makes this XLR-to-RCA assembly using Mogami W2534 Neglex Quad microphone cable and genuine Neutrik or Canare connectors according to your selected build options. Nine cable colors, custom labeling, and finishing options help keep channels and destinations easy to identify when you set up or trace a connection.

One Cable, One Unbalanced Audio Channel

This assembly carries one unbalanced mono analog audio channel between equipment with compatible signal levels and wiring. Neither the XLR connector nor the quad wire makes the RCA connection balanced. For separate left and right stereo channels, order two appropriately configured cables. This is not a stereo-to-mono summing cable or a way to combine equipment outputs.

Check each socket's input or output function, intended signal level, and required XLR gender. Connector fit alone does not establish compatibility. Wiring requirements can depend on signal direction: a balanced XLR output feeding an RCA input may require different treatment from an RCA output feeding an XLR input.

This passive cable does not convert consumer and professional operating levels, match impedances, amplify a microphone, or provide transformer isolation. Connecting an RCA source to an XLR input does not turn the source into a balanced output. Use an appropriate interface, direct box, or level-conversion device when your equipment requires one. This assembly is not an amplifier-to-passive-speaker cable.

Built Around Mogami W2534

  • Mogami W2534 Neglex Quad microphone cable: quad-conductor wire used here for a custom unbalanced analog audio assembly.
  • Genuine Neutrik or Canare connectors: connector choices depend on the selected build configuration.
  • Nine cable colors: distinguish channels, destinations, and equipment connections.
  • Custom labeling and finishing options: identify connections during setup and troubleshooting.
  • Custom made to order with a lifetime warranty: a Performance Audio assembly built to your specified requirements.

Quad describes the wire's construction, not four separate audio channels. This finished cable remains a single unbalanced connection; quad wire does not supply balanced-line noise rejection at an RCA connection or eliminate ground-loop hum. The microphone-cable designation does not establish compatibility with every microphone or XLR socket.

Check Wiring and Power Requirements

Verify the source and destination equipment models and their recommended balanced-to-unbalanced wiring before ordering. Some balanced outputs require a particular treatment of the unused signal leg; do not assume an XLR pin can safely be tied to ground. Specify wiring for the connected equipment rather than relying on a universal pinout.

Keep phantom power disabled on any connected XLR input unless the equipment manufacturer explicitly approves the complete connection. This cable does not block phantom power or provide electrical isolation. Mute or turn down monitoring before making or removing connections.

RCA sockets can carry analog audio, digital audio, or video. This listing is for analog audio, not S/PDIF, AES/EBU, or video conversion. Confirm the socket's function and signal format before connecting.

Plan the Run Before You Order

Measure along the actual route, allowing slack for strain relief and equipment access without unnecessary excess. Keep unbalanced runs as short as practical, particularly with high-impedance sources, and route away from AC cables and power transformers. Cable length and connected equipment can affect noise and high-frequency response; the wire's construction is not a guarantee of performance over any particular distance.

Check clearance around adjacent sockets and leave room for connector bodies and cable exits. Support the cable so it does not pull on equipment connections, avoid sharp bends and pinch points, and test the completed connection at a low listening level before normal use.
