Description

Custom 8-Channel Audio Snake with Canare MS202-8P

Bring eight audio connections into one organized assembly, with easy configuration using the available connector arrangements for each side. Performance Audio builds this snake using Canare MS202-8P cable and genuine Neutrik connectors for studio, rack, and live-sound connections tailored to your equipment.

Built for Your Setup

  • Canare MS202-8P 8-channel audio snake cable.
  • Genuine Neutrik connectors.
  • Easy per-side configuration using the preset arrangements available in this listing.
  • Eight separate audio paths in one finished assembly.
  • Custom labeling and finishing options.
  • Custom made to order, not unterminated bulk cable.
  • Lifetime warranty.

Choose the Arrangement for Each Side

This listing lets you choose a complete preset connector arrangement for each end of the snake rather than configure each channel individually. Review the available arrangements for both sides and confirm that every channel's connector type and gender match the equipment you intend to connect.

Create a channel map identifying the source and destination for channels 1 through 8. If the available presets do not cover the channel-by-channel combination you need, contact our custom cable specialists before ordering. Connector changes do not convert signal levels or make incompatible equipment work together.

Eight Separate Audio Paths

For compatible analog connections, each channel is an independent mono signal path. A balanced mono connection uses one channel; a stereo connection normally uses two, one for left and one for right. The eight paths can therefore serve four stereo pairs when configured appropriately. This snake does not mix channels, split a signal, or combine outputs.

Match Connectors to the Actual Signal

Confirm each device's connector function, wiring, and signal level before choosing the build. Where available, XLR or 1/4-inch TRS configurations can support balanced mono connections when both equipment ports and the assembly wiring are suitable. A TRS socket can instead carry stereo headphones or an insert send/return, so the plug shape alone does not establish compatibility.

For any unbalanced configuration, confirm the appropriate wiring and whether a balanced output may be connected to an unbalanced input. A connector change does not provide balancing, transformer isolation, microphone preamplification, or line-to-mic attenuation. Passive instruments and other high-impedance sources may need a suitable direct box or buffer rather than a long snake run.

Check XLR genders and microphone-versus-line-level requirements for each path. Where phantom power is needed, confirm that the complete channel wiring and every connected device support it. Disable phantom power before repatching microphone connections, and do not route it to incompatible line-level or unbalanced equipment. If TRS connections are used, avoid inserting or removing them while phantom power is active.

This listing is for an analog audio snake, not a speaker-power cable or a guaranteed AES/EBU digital or DMX assembly. Discuss digital, control, or other specialized requirements before ordering.

Plan Main Length and Breakout Reach

Measure the complete cable route with room for service slack, gentle bends, and equipment access. At both ends, measure from the breakout point to the farthest socket and allow enough individual-channel reach to patch without pulling on connectors. Confirm special breakout lengths or staggered reaches with our custom cable specialists before the build is finalized.

Check connector clearance around recessed or closely spaced ports, including access to latches where fitted. Run-length suitability depends on the source, destination, signal level, balanced or unbalanced wiring, and installation environment, not simply whether the connectors fit.

Channel Labels and Finishing

Use custom labels to identify channel numbers, equipment ports, sources, and destinations. Keep identification consistent at both ends, especially when the selected presets include different connector arrangements or channels carry signals in different directions. Discuss color coding by channel and available finishing options to make setup and troubleshooting easier.

Handling and Testing

Support the main cable and breakouts so equipment sockets do not carry the snake's weight. Avoid sharp bends, crushing, and tension where individual channels leave the main jacket. Release connector latches where fitted and disconnect by the connector body rather than pulling on the cable.

Test all eight channels with the intended equipment before installation or a show. Check channel mapping, correct levels, left/right assignments for stereo pairs, and clean audio without hum, noise, or intermittent connections. Test any phantom-powered microphone paths only after confirming that the complete connection is suitable.

Customization Help

If the website's options do not cover your needs, call or email Performance Audio's custom cable specialists. Provide your equipment models, preferred connector preset for each side, signal types and levels, main cable length, breakout reach at each end, channel map, and labeling or finishing requests so we can confirm the build details. Confirm pricing and the build timeline before ordering if you have a deadline.
