Description

Custom Balanced Y-Cable with Mogami W2930 and Neutrik Connectors

Route one compatible balanced analog audio source to two inputs with a custom-built Y-cable tailored to your setup. Performance Audio builds this finished assembly using Mogami W2930 2-channel snake cable and genuine Neutrik connectors, with length, labeling, and finishing options to help keep your connections organized.

Wire Choices

This custom balanced Y-cable is available in two wire choices. Select the listing for your preferred cable before configuring your build.

Built for Your Setup

  • Mogami W2930 2-channel audio snake cable.
  • Genuine Neutrik connectors using the available configuration options.
  • Balanced analog audio Y format for compatible source-and-input arrangements.
  • Black cable.
  • Custom labeling and finishing options.
  • Custom made to order as a finished assembly, not unterminated bulk wire.
  • Lifetime warranty.

Split One Signal, Not Two Independent Channels

In a parallel splitter configuration, one balanced mono source feeds two compatible inputs carrying the same signal. The two branches are not separate left and right channels, and this is not a stereo breakout or an insert send/return cable. The W2930 cable's two-channel construction provides the branches; it does not make the Y connection a mixer or two independent source paths.

Confirm the connector type, gender, signal flow, and required wiring at the common end and both branches before ordering. For any available TRS option, confirm that the equipment port carries balanced mono audio rather than stereo headphones or an insert send/return. Connector fit alone does not establish compatibility.

Important: A Y-Cable Is Not a Summing Mixer

Do not use a simple parallel Y connection to join two active outputs into one input, combine stereo outputs into mono, or connect two source devices together. Outputs can drive against one another, causing distortion or possible equipment damage. The term combiner does not mean this assembly provides a safe summing circuit.

If you need to combine sources, discuss an appropriate mixer or purpose-designed summing solution with our custom cable specialists. Do not assume this cable includes resistors, transformers, isolation, or other combining circuitry unless a specific custom build has been confirmed.

Check Source Loading and Isolation Requirements

A passive split connects the source to the combined load of both inputs. Confirm that the source can drive that load over the complete cable lengths while maintaining the required level and performance. Adding a second input is not guaranteed to be transparent in every setup, especially with long runs or equipment with unusual impedances.

This assembly does not provide independent output buffering, gain, level adjustment, or transformer isolation. Connecting two devices can create grounding interactions or hum. For independent feeds, long runs, ground isolation, or demanding distribution requirements, discuss a suitable active distribution amplifier or isolated splitter instead. Never defeat equipment safety grounds to address hum.

Microphone, Line-Level, and Phantom-Power Checks

Confirm whether the source and both destinations use microphone-level or line-level signals. A connector change does not provide microphone preamplification or attenuate a line output for a microphone input. Microphone splitting requires particular attention to input loading, phantom power, and grounding.

Do not connect phantom-power supplies from multiple destinations together through an unconfirmed parallel split. Before using this cable with a phantom-powered microphone, have the complete wiring and phantom-power arrangement confirmed for the microphone and both receiving devices. If that arrangement cannot be established, use an appropriate purpose-designed microphone splitter. Disable phantom power before repatching, and keep it away from incompatible line-level or unbalanced equipment.

This listing is for balanced analog audio, not speaker power or a guaranteed AES/EBU digital or DMX splitter. Those applications require their own compatible wiring and distribution methods.

Plan Main Length and Branch Reach

Measure the actual route from the source to both destinations, including the required split location, service slack, and gentle bends. Specify the main section and the reach needed for each branch rather than assuming one overall measurement describes the whole assembly. Confirm how the available length options are measured before ordering.

Check connector clearance around recessed or closely spaced ports, including access to latches where fitted. Support the cable and split so neither branch pulls on equipment sockets.

Labels, Finishing, and Testing

Custom labels can identify the common connection, destination A, destination B, and equipment ports. Discuss available connector color coding and finishing options to make signal flow clear during setup.

Disconnect by the connector body, release latches where fitted, and avoid sharp bends, crushing, or tension at the split. Test with the intended source and both destinations connected before installation or a show. Check level, clean audio, and whether connecting either branch introduces hum, noise, or distortion.

Customization Help

If the available options do not cover your needs, call or email Performance Audio's custom cable specialists. Provide the source and destination equipment models, signal levels, connector types and genders, main length, branch lengths, phantom-power requirements, and labeling or finishing requests so we can confirm the build details. Confirm pricing and the build timeline before ordering if you have a deadline.
