Performance: The LS-2 Listening Station is a receive-only component intended to provide paging functions to your Production Intercom system without having to install a separate paging amplifier and speakers. It contains its own amplifier and speaker and is powered from the intercom power supply. Typical applications would include dressing rooms, green rooms and box offices.

When mounted in its extremely rugged metal back box, it connects to the intercom system through a three-pin XLR just like any other station. The box can be used 'tabletop' or mounted on the wall using rear panel key-shaped holes. When flush mounted in a 6-gang electrical box, connection is via a plug-in terminal strip. The plug-in strip for the wire end is provided.

The LS-2 has an override feature that permits the operator of any station equipped with the OG904 Override generator module to switch the LS-2 to its preset override status, either raising or lowering the volume. The station with the override generator is typically a master or sub-master station but one can also be installed in a BP-1 Beltpack, an HS-1 Headset Station or an LS-3 Talk back Loudspeaker Station.

The front panel controls consist of a Listen Level control that is accessible and an Override Level control that is recessed and adjustable only with a small screwdriver. A bright green LED indicates that the override function has been activated, overriding the accessible audio level control in favor of the recessed one.

When calling the LS-2 the caller may cause a tone to be emitted alerting anyone in the area of the LS-2 that a paging message is about to come. This is done using the caller's signal light button. In noisy surroundings it helps to quiet those in its proximity. The audible alert volume can be raised or lowered using a control mounted on the rear of the PC board. An accessible link, also on the back of the PC board allows the audible alert to be disconnected.

Durability: The LS-2 is mounted on a heavy aluminum plate, extremely resistant to distortion. The back box is formed from heavy gauge steel.

Value: The LS-2 is simply constructed, reducing assembly time and maintaining a low cost.

Compatibility: The LS-2 is compatible with Clear-Com and other lesser-known intercom systems operating on an unbalanced 200 ohm line. The audible alert will work, but the override feature will not. The LS-2 is NOT compatible with Telex. An adaptor is available (AD920) to allow Production Intercom products to work in Telex systems.
