DPA Microphones L40B
The L40B is a diameter40 mm sphere shaped Acoustic Pressure Equaliser, designed for use with the Standard Microphone 4003 and 4006 or the A-B Stereo Kits 3503 and 3506.

It offers a more noticeable on-axis boost between 2 and 8 kHz, and a stronger off-axis attenuation than the L30B. This gives a marked increase in the directivity of your recordings (at 4 kHz, the front-to-back sensitivity ratio is 8 dB), and decreases the effects of reverberation and off-axis sources.

When using L40B, you can modify the spectral characteristic of a source by simply altering the angle of incidence to give a frequency boost, a flat response or an attenuation.

Close your eyes and listen. From the subtlest nuances of a solo violin or vocalist to the thunderous intensity of a full brass section or drum kit, it's all there, spectacularly pure and uncolored. The sound is so crisp and detailed that you begin to create a mental picture of what the recording environment looked like. The microphones responsible? DPA, of course.
